Cultivation
Grow Hosta Empress Wu in part / dappled shade. It will tolerate most soil conditions apart from really dry soil.
Water well when planting. Plants can be tidied back in the autumn as they start to die back and look messy. An annual mulch and feed will help keep your Hosta looking lush. In the spring I use an organic, slow release top dress feed, mixed in with whelk shells, grit and horticultural sand to try and deter the dredded slugs and it does seem to work well for me... and I have a lot of frogs at the nursery
Hostas are perennials that die back each autumn / winter and reappear early spring

Woodland, shade garden, tropical garden, containers, middle to back of perennial borders
