Ophiopogon 'Nigrescens' is a small, clump forming, evergreen perennial with grass like leaves that are purple / green turning almost black if given full sun.  It will produce small purple flowers followed by shiny black berries.  Works well in containers or gravel gardens.

  • Cultivation

    Grows in full sun or partial shade but if you are growing it for it's contrasting black foliage, then giving it full sun in well drained soil is best.  Works well in containers.  Can be divided in spring once established or starts to out grow the size you want.

    Good in containers or gravel garden, it can get lost in a border unles it is planted with other low growing perennials.
